French Trip : 15th – 21st June 2008
The children are enjoying their trip to Normandy, and their stay at
Château de
la Baudonnière. We are receiving daily bulletins, which are
posted below, together with photographs which you will find in the
gallery.
Sunday:
Had a superb crossing, sea calm and no problems
with sea sickness. The children enjoyed being out on deck and
looking at the other ships as well as exploring the ferry itself.
We made the most of a hot 2-course meal on board, and when we
arrived at the
Château
we had a light supper before retiring at 1am.
Monday:
Up at 7.30am and straight into our hectic
programme of activities, including aeroballe, orientation and canoë.
Nobody has been ill, nobody is hungry and none of the children are
homesick! We have asked them to telephone home but, as we're
sure you will understand, they are enjoying themselves so much this
is not at the top of their list of priorities!
Tuesday:
Salut! Today we've been to the
market at Villedieu where the children had a great time supporting
the local economy! We also popped in to a large supermarché
on the way back, just in case they hadn't got rid of all their (your) cash!
The evening saw the children engaged in Jeux sans
frontières which were somewhat
messy and incredibly lively!
Wednesday:
Today we have
completed sessions on tir á lárc, escrime, aeroballe/cirque, and
dégustation due cidre. Everyone still well and enjoying everything.
In the evening we had a Treasure Hunt - very positive comments about
our pupils received from the animatrice! After that came
enthusiastic showering and shampooing of hair which caused the fire
alarm to go off! Mrs Peel would have been impressed! We
have the talent show to look forward to tomorrow .... Hamish dancing,
Albert juggling (rather battered) apples, and the girls dancing to a
Grease megamix. Simon Cowell should be here !!!
Thursday:
Ce matin, il pleut! Great
weather for the assault course and initiative exercises.... off we
go! Will report back later! ..... Assault course
completed, both groups loved it and got very muddy too.
Tonight was the French Evening with dressing up being judged, and a
menu featuring snails!
Friday:
Mrs Brown is keen to relay the excellent news that
not only did the girls get top marks for the neatness of their dorms
again today, but they have in fact won on every day they have been here.
Today we did some canoë, fabrication du pain and des exercises
d'initiative. In the evening there was a talent competition
and we were played out by a very Scottish marching pipe band - in
France!!!!
A very early start tomorrow for the journey home, but a
wonderful time has been had by all and we can't wait to tell you all
about it.
