Malsis’ academic teachers are well qualified and experienced and are dedicated to getting the best from each of their pupils by using a full range of dynamic teaching styles. Class sizes are kept small so that each child can be taught as an individual – a principle that is engrained in every aspect of school life.
To further enhance learning every child, regardless of their ability, is assessed for cornerstone literacy skills by the school’s in-house educational psychologist. This allows any problems to surface early, new strategies and approaches to be implemented immediately, and their effectiveness closely monitored. For those that have learning difficulties, unique and pioneering BoosterBooks programmes improve competence in reading, writing and spelling through highly motivating ‘real life’ projects.

The results are staggering with reading and spelling ages significantly raised, far outstripping progress made with traditional learning support techniques. The self esteem and confidence that the rapid improvement gives the children often spills over to boost all other curriculum areas.
“BoosterBooks is an exciting, innovative and evidence-based approach to literacy teaching and learning. Uniquely, in contrast to most of what passes for 'learning support', BoosterBooks is based on what motivates children to learn” Professor Alec Webster, University of Bristol.
Malsis classrooms are vibrant and colourful but extensive use is also made of the beautiful wooded grounds to embed understanding of classroom theory - with a great deal of fun thrown in! Lessons are further brought to life with exciting trips designed to enthuse: a week-long stay in a French Chateau, The Royal Armouries in Leeds, a night on board the Golden Hind in London, The Jorvic (Viking) Centre in York and the world class geology of nearby Malham Cove have all featured recently.
The academic results speak for themselves with a very high proportion of children achieving scholarships to renowned public schools or coveted Grammar School places. The Headmaster spends a good deal of time visiting schools and with his in-depth knowledge of your child, he can help recommend the right next step.
