Malsis is bursting with fun things to do and try both indoors and out, on site and off. It is blessed with space, facilities and an exceptional team of specialist instructors hand-picked by headmaster and outdoor enthusiast, Marcus Peel. Over three hours a week are dedicated to activities from haring around the unique 3km mountain bike track, to a calm game of chess and from fly fishing to flying falcons! Every child discovers they are good at something, giving a strong base from which to build confidence and self belief.
There is a varied list of options available to all Boarding pupils for after school and weekends keeping them happy and entertained. Day pupils can also stay on for supper and activities most nights during the week for no extra charge, leaving parents free to do a full days work and not have to rush about taking children to ballet and riding or judo and football.
All children aged seven and over attempt the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge every Summer, tackling Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough – a route of 20 miles and 1600m of ascent! Everyone manages at least one peak, but many complete all three in the day and are rewarded with a coveted ‘Three Peaks’ tie which is worn with great pride.
“The best thing I have done at Malsis is the Yorkshire Three Peaks. It took 12 hours and was knackering but next year I’m going to do it faster!” Thomas aged 8
