Early Birds and Sundowners

Breakfast Club (from 8am – 8.30am) and after school care (from 3.30 – 5pm including a cold tea) is provided for children in Pre-Prep in a carefully planned building within the school site. We are aware that the children need a cosy and homely environment in which they can relax and have fun both before and after school away from the classrooms.  We have a Care Leader who organises this facility.  Mrs Richards liaises closely with Pre-Prep staff to ensure that communication with parents is kept beyond the school day. Fun activities are planned for Sundowners but the children are also able to relax and unwind from the busy day at school.

Assemblies – Our assemblies help nurture a sense of belonging and bring the children from Reception to Year 2 together at regular times. We welcome guest speakers and each class take their turn to share their experiences with us. Friday assembly is a time to celebrate individual and group achievements and Birthdays. Positive praise, rewards and merits play a big part in building the children’s' self esteem and confidence. We value each achievement however small or big and the children enjoy sharing with each other.   The Kindergarten class join us for this Friday assembly.

Productions – every child takes part in Pre-Prep productions which take place in the Autumn and Summer Terms.

Sports Day- our Sports Day takes place in the Summer Term.  Children compete against each other in individual races and against other Houses in team races.

Houses

We work on positive reinforcement and praise positive attitudes and learning.  We have three Houses – Robins, Swallows and Kingfishers.  House points are awarded every day for many types of positive behaviour and good work.  The House Point Cup is presented to the House with the most House Points each week.  The children are split into their Houses for Sports Day so that there are a combination of individual and team races.
