Creativity

Creativity and practical exploration are an integral part of every day learning at Malsis.  Creativity in English, through role play in class, story telling and listening.  Many Maths concepts can be developed and understood far better through practical play, creating pictures and visual creations.  Learning about the world around us relating to Science, History and Geography is far more exciting with the use of practical tasks and hands on experiences.

Drama

We highly value the development of individuals in self expression and articulation.  It is a vital part of the development of literacy strategies and competences.  Kindergarten and Reception use role play as an important learning tool at the early stages.

In addition to role play Reception, Year One and Year Two have a weekly drama session with Miss McKenna, Head of Drama.  These sessions provide an outlet for self expression and help the development of imagination and artistic awareness.  It increases social awareness through role play as mental awareness and fluency of speech.  The children will grow in confidence and become disciplined in controlling body movements and verbal outbursts.

Art

As well as the artistic creativity which takes place in each class and can be seem in display work within Pre-Prep, children in Year Two have a specialist art lesson in the ‘Big Malsis’ art studio with Mr Cassar, Head of ArtWith the space and resources, it provides, children are able to develop specific skills as well as an appreciation of art.

MusicPre prep music

All the children in Pre-Prep enjoy the music lessons provided by Mrs Bradley-Reed. For Kindergarten and Reception short singing and movement sessions help the children join together and feel the beat of the music through marching and moving.

Year One begin to develop musical skills and singing through topic related songs and games. In Year Two the children receive an extended music lesson which incorporates the learning of the recorder.

All three of these creative areas are brought together twice a year for Pre-Prep Productions.
